A gusty day made for an unpredictable game between the Lady Rangers girls’ soccer team and the Mona Shores Sailors. In the past, the Sailors had fought hard to make this conference match-up a tough one. With a goal from sophomore, Ashley Weaver, the Rangers pulled off an important win on Monday, April 23.
The first-half started off with both teams struggling to find possession. The Rangers finally found some rhythm and began connecting passes. Midway into the half, Marti Corby combined with Mariah Otolski, ending with a powerful shot just missing the net. Mona Shores had very few chances and late into the first half, Ashley Weaver coolly placed a ball into the corner of the goal, scoring the winning goal for the Rangers.
Heading into the second half, the Rangers continued to hold almost all of the possession. Chances continued to appear for Central, but they were unable to capitalize. Mona Shores had few opportunities and the Rangers were able to come away with another very crucial conference win.
