The Forest Hills Central Lady Ranger Tennis program avenged a regular season loss to Mona Shores and claimed the OK Black Championship in Holland on Friday.
The key to the tournament title were big wins at No. 1 singles by Victoria Beach and by Margaret Keefer and Anna Veltman at No. 2 doubles. FHC lost both flights to Mona Shores during their dual match, but avenged those losses Friday at the conference tournament.
Beach won convincingly by a score of 6-1, 6-1, while Veltman and Keefer pulled out a tough 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles after losing their match in three sets during the dual.
FHC won all four singles flights. Along with Beach at No. 1, Aditi Vrudhula won at No. 2 singles, Shelby Kreuzer at No. 3 and Lily Alvarez at No. 4. In addition, No. 1 doubles, No. 3 doubles and No. 4 doubles were all finalists.
The Rangers next compete in a difficult Division 2 regional next Friday at Forest Hills Northern with the host team, Traverse City Central, Mona Shores and Northview all competing for two, or possibly three, berths to the state finals.
