Game Recap

Forest Hills got off to a fast start, but still had to fight to defeat Grosse Pointe University Liggett 3-1 at Forest Hills Central Saturday.

Kirsten Fentzke tipped a Josie David pass behind the keeper to get the home team on the board just three and a half minutes into the game.

The Knights fought off several scoring opportunities before cashing in on a breakaway with five minutes left in the first half to tie the game.

However, Forest Hills continued to control play in the second half, and after a number of chances, Madisyn Bunke finally put home a rebound on a scramble in front of the goal to put her team in front, then scored again in a similar situation five minutes later to solidify the final score.

Forest Hills may also pick up a second win on the day, awaiting a league ruling on a possible forfeit after Dearborn Edsel Ford cancelled their trip to Forest Hills earlier in the week, citing a league scheduling mishap.

In the meantime, Forest Hills will move to 6-1 for the season, with the next game coming at home next Saturday against Dearborn.
