Forest Hills boys swimming and diving remained undefeated in conference play as they swam past Grand Rapids Catholic Central 119-65 in action tonight at the David H. Hunting YMCA. “We were able to try some different events and relay combinations and everything just fell into place for the team to win tonight. GRCC is a good young team but we were able to show some diversity in our races and the teams hard work in practice is paying off,” said head coach Dennis Neat.

The “Hills” opened the meet up with a 1st and 3rd in the 200 yd. Medley Relay as Zack Stevenson, Kaz Iwatsu, Charlie Krug, and Max VanDoorne touched in 1:46.86 with the “Hills” B team (Zack Holand, Dakota Weinman, Jonathn Bloedow, Alex Plouff) picking up important 3rd place points.

In the 200 yd. Freestyle, the “Hills” team displayed team depth as they finished 1-2-3 as Adam Sands touching 1st, Isaac VanderMolen in 2nd and Paul Jeong coming in 3rd.

Moving to the 200 yd. Individual Medley, the “Hills” continued to pull away was Kaz Iwatsu captured the event title and Logan Vredenburg coming in 3rd and freshman Patrick Lintner was 5th.

The 50 yd. Freestyle saw Forest Hills flex it’s muscles once again with their second 1-2-3 sweep with Matt Wilson finishing 1st, Dakota Weinman 2nd and Mitch Miller 3rd.

Diving saw Forest Hills take another 1-2-3 sweep as Ryan Talbot, Joe Mish and Chance Spencer putting on an excellent display of skills on the diving boards.

Back to the swimming and in the 100 yd. Butterfly, Zach Holland touched first and Brandon Lee finished 2nd and Tyler Perschbacker come in 4th to round out the scoring in the event.

The streak of winning the meets first 6 events came to an end in the 100 yd Freestyle. While the team didn’t touch in 1st place they still “won” the event on points with a 2-3-4 team finish. Jonathan Bloedow was 2nd, Zach Stevenson 3rd and Paul Jeong was 4th.

Forest Hills got back to it’s winning was again as they went 1-2-4 in the meets longest event the 500 yd. Freestyle. Adam Sands took honors while Isaac VanderMolen was 2nd and Mitch Miller was 4th.

The 200 yd. Freestyle relay team of Jonathan Bloedow, Seth Fagen, Tyler Perschbacker and Alex Plouff gave the “Hills” team another 1st place finish.

The “Hills” missed grabbing the event title in the 100 yd. Backstroke but demonstrated team depth once again going 2-3-4. Charlie Krug just out touched team Matt Wilson for 2nd and 3rd places and Zack Holland rounded out the scoring finishing 4th.

In the meets final individual event, the 100 yd. Breaststroke, Brandon Lee finished 2nd and the relay team of Charlie Krug, Seth Fagen, Brandon Lee, and Nick Porter came in 1st place to close out the meet.

“We have a busy week ahead of us and this team victory is a great start. I think with some impressive 1st swims of the season, saw how deep of a team we really are and what other teams will have to prepare for us,” coach Dennis Neat concluded.
