The Lady Rangers won 7 events and the diving team 1-2-3 finished helped to lead the FHC girls swimming and diving team to a 108-78 victory over GR Catholic Central in a conference showdown between two of the state’s top swimming programs.
Lead by Collen Kramer who posted a personal best score of 274.25 followed by teammates Anna Hansen (263.00) and Nicole Carlson (237.65) helped the Rangers to pull away from the Cougars.
Other key players were Jessica Schellenboom who picked up 1st places in the 50 yd. Freestyles and 100 yd. Breaststroke; Felicity Buchmaier picking up another pair of 1st places in the 100 yd. Butterfly and 100 yd. Backstroke.
FHC also picked up victories in the 200 yd. Medley Relay (Olivia Hooper, Emily Johnson, Felicity Buchmaier and Jessica Schellenboom) and wrapped up the meet by taking the 400 yd. Freestyle Relay (Olivia Luplow, Sarah Schenck, Molly Weiblen, Felicity Buchmaier) in a time of 3:50.85.
“This was a good assessment for the team as we swam a little tired tonight after a long week of practice and everyone enjoying the homecoming events last week and I couldn’t be prouder of how the team as able to pull together and step up to get the team victory,” said head coach Dennis Neat. “This victory now sets up our biggest meet of the season as we’ll go against East Grand Rapids.” FHC is now 5-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
