The Boys Swimming and Diving team defeated Midland Dow 97- 88 in action at the Battle Creek Quad meet hosted by Battle Creek Lakeview. Forest Hills needed it’s team depth to help the FH boys continue it’s undefeated season as despite winning 8 of the 12 events it was each teams depth that kept the meet going back and forth.
Forest Hills started off the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 yd. Medley Relay. Winning relay was Seth Fagen (:26.13), Matt Wilson (:27.85), Jonathan Bloedow (:24.19) and Charlie Krug (:21.78).
Forest Hills held a slim lead after finishing 1st and 4th in the 200 yd Freestyle as Henry Schutte (1:44.80) captured 1st with Avery Letourneau (1:53.73) coming in 4th.
The 200 yd. Individual Medley saw Forest Hills depth help to stretch it’s lead as they placed 1st- 2nd and 4th place. CJ Hier just touching out teammate Daniel Bloedow for 1st place (2:05.37 – 2:06.30) and Adam Sands taking 5th place (2:09.76).
In the 50 yd Freestyle, Charlie Krug was 2nd (:22.70), Jonathan Bloedow (:23.37) took 4th place.
Ryan Talbot was Forest Hills top diver on Saturday with a score of 178.40 pts. Teammates Sam Musgraves (163.00) was 3rd and Flyn Lyon (162.55) was 4th.
Seth Fagen (:55.08) was out touched Dow by 0.15 tenths and settled for 2nd place and Adam Sands (:57.87) as 3rd.
Forest Hills battled back and showed it’s speed in both the 100 yd. Freestyle they placed 1-3-5 in the 100 yd. Freestyle and displayed some fine depth with a 2-4-5 finish in the 500 yd. Freestyle events. Leading Forest Hills in the sprint event was Henry Schutte (:46.71) and teammates Matt Wilson (49.23) and Charlie Krug (:49.76) finishing 3rd and 5th respectfully. Jonathan Bloedow was just touched out in the distance race coming up 0.27 tenths short going 5:00.50 for 2nd place and Avery LeTourneau (5:19.35) was good for 4th and Paul Jeong placed 5th (5:26.99).
The freestyle sprint relays saw Forest Hills touch 1st as the “A” relay (Schutte 21.53, Krug Bloedow, D, LeTourneau) going 1:30.24.
Seth Fagen, CJ Hier and Andrew Zhang combined to strengthen it’s lead over Dow as they finished 1-4-5 in the 100 yd. Backstroke and Matt Wilson finished off the individual events with a 1:00.43 first place finish in the 100 yd. Breaststroke.
Forest Hills closed out the meet with a 2nd place finish in the 400 yd. Freestyle Relay as the “A” team (Schutte :48.37, Wilson :49.44, Fagen 50.48, Bloedow, J :50.51) just missed out on first place by less than 1.5 tenths of a second (3:18.78).
“We swam and drove well despite this was the team’s third meet in 7 days. We’re a pretty tired group right now but we’re still able to post times near personal best,” said head coach Dennis Neat. “
The team will host GR Catholic Central at the Forest Hills Aquatic Center on Tuesday, Jan. 16th at 6:30 pm.
